Chemical Resistance Guide – Choosing the Right Hose for Aggressive Fluids
Plant industries that work with acids, solvents, caustics and other abrasive chemicals cannot afford hose downtime. Based on chemical compatibility, Vector Hose provides custom Industrial Hose solutions.

For the service of most hydraulic oils and fuels, General Purpose NBR (Nitrile) Fuel Hose and Rubber Hydraulic Hose are suitable.
But for concentrated acids, ketones or chlorinated solvents, go for PTFE Hose (SAE 100 R14) with SS304/SS316 braid – it resists almost everything chemically from -54°C to +204°C.
For hot water, steam, and mild alkalis, EPDM Hose is the best option. Our Steam Hose features EPDM tube and cover rated up to +200°C.
For phosphate ester fluids (used in fire retardant hydraulic systems), use Thermoplastic Hose or PTFE – conventional rubber will spoil.
For chemical resistant abrasive slurries, Vector Hose also offers UHMwPE Cover hoses.
When handling biodiesel or ethanol blends, our Cpe Fuel Line Hose or Fluorocarbon-lined products help you avoid swelling.
Keep in mind that permeation (vapor migration) can be an issue with gases and light hydrocarbons – PTFE has the lowest permeation.
For the food and pharmaceutical industry, Teflon Hose with smoothbore is non-contaminating and ease of cleaning.
Vector Hose distributes Suction Hose and Discharge Hose with chemical resistant tubes.
Use a corresponding Hose Coupling (stainless steel or polypropylene) to prevent galvanic corrosion.
Always make reference to the chemical resistance charts before purchase.
